Day 23: Santa Ynez Mountains

We set off this morning to explore part of the Santa Ynez Mountains. We did some research and set out for the Inspiration Point Trailhead which was about 5 miles from our cottage by car.

We set off from the start of the trail on foot and it proved very steep in places but had some great views. The walk took about an hour and it was very hot and sunny with little shade.  The girls all did really well as we climbed about 1000ft and were rewarded with a fantastic view out over Santa Barbara and The Pacific.

We then headed down to Leadbetter Beach for the afternoon. This was not quite as nice as the other beaches, mainly due to the amount of seaweed on the beach and in the ocean. Nonetheless we had an enjoyable few hours and then walked along Stearn’s Wharf to get an ice-cream. The views back to West Beach were just lovely.

The evening ended back at our rental cottage with roast chicken and a game of Family Fortunes which Becky and Issy won.
